Westmeath LGFA intermediate final rearranged for Saturday

The Westmeath LGFA Intermediate Championship final between Goldsmiths and Loughnavalley has been rearranged for this Saturday in Ballynacargy (throw-in 12pm).

The final was originally scheduled to be played at TEG Cusack Park, before weather conditions forced it to be postponed due to the unavailability of an alternative venue.

Westmeath LGFA said it was delighted to confirm details of the game "after a turbulent weekend with several finals disrupted by Storm Amy".

Loughnavalley contested last year's intermediate final in which they lost out to Coralstown/Kinnegad, while 2024 junior champions Goldsmiths are aiming for their second county title in the space of two years. The winners of Saturday's final will be presented with the Mary Wynne Cup.

Drawing their players from the Tang, Drumraney and Tubberclair areas, Goldsmiths booked their place in the final with a 4-7 to 0-10 win over Moate, their goals coming from Lisa Seery (two), Ciara Foxe and Gemma Guinane.

Loughnavalley overcame Caulry by 3-10 to 3-2 in their semi-final, with Morgan Corcoran their top scorer on the day with 2-5 (see the winning team and scorers from both semi-finals below).

In order to avoid a clash with this weekend's camogie finals, the Westmeath LGFA senior final between Milltown and St Loman's (also postponed last weekend) will be played on Sunday, October 19, with Ballynacargy again the venue.

Meanwhile, Castledaly GAA will host the local derby Under-16 Division 1 final between Garrycastle and Athlone on Friday night (7pm), while newly crowned Westmeath junior champions Milltownpass are in Leinster championship action on Saturday. See fixtures below.
