Popular hotelier John Connaughton passes away

The death has taken place of the proprietor of the Bloomfield House Hotel, John Connaughton.

John was instrumental in the success of Bloomfield, having acquired the premises alongside a group of local businessmen in the late 70’s. They transformed the building and grounds into a 29 bedroom hotel at the time, before the Connaughton Family took full reign over the Hotel in later years.

John oversaw the evolution of the top class facilities including a Leisure Club & Spa. His work ethic and drive for excellence, alongside his daughter, the current Director Liz, built the renowned Bloomfield hospitality experience.

The hotel took to Facebook to make the announcement saying: “It is with deep sadness that we share the news of Mr John Connaughton’s passing, Proprietor of Bloomfield House Hotel, Leisure Club & Spa, and beloved father of our colleagues Liz (Director) and Julie.

“John was a true gentleman. He was an inspiration to so many of us and will be fondly remembered by all our Team. We extend our heartfelt condolences to all the Connaughton family during this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with them as they mourn the loss of a much-loved husband, father, grandfather, and friend. May John rest in peace.”
