Westmeath name team for Galway clash

Westmeath manager Mark McHugh has named his starting team for the Round 2A All-Ireland SFC Championship clash against Galway in Pearse Stadium, Salthill, on Sunday, at 2pm.

Caulry's Senan Baker, who was a late replacement for Jack Duncan in the Lake County's Round 1 extra-time win over Cavan, retains his place in the full forward line.

Although listed on the substitutes bench for the Round 1 fixture, Baker started the contest against Cavan with Duncan introduced as a 57th minute substitute for Brian Cooney.

Interestingly, Rosemount's Boidu Sayeh returns to the matchday panel following a hamstring injury, while Shane Ormsby also makes the substitute bench having missed out against Cavan.

With a number of injury concerns, there is a possibility of personnel changes to the team prior to throw-in on Sunday afternoon.

The sold out game will be televised live on the GAA's streaming channel, GAA+.

Galway team manager Padraig Joyce has also named his starting team for the weekend clash.

Full forward Damien Comer has been held in reserve, but Shane Walsh and Rob Finnerty have been listed to start in the attack.

The 2024 GAA/GPA 'Footballer of the Year' Paul Conroy will start in centrefield alongside team captain, John Maher.
