More than 900 players representing more than 40 teams enjoyed competition and socialising at the G4M&O North Leinster Blitz hosted by The Downs on Saturday.
The event was organised by Leinster LGFA with a small committee from Na Dúnta: Sharon Crowley, Emma Dunkin, Elaine Egerton, Martha Murtagh, Carely Kelly and Niamh Ducan.
They began at 11am, and after the last game finished at 4pm, there was entertainment in the clubhouse, where all attendees were invited to dance and have a drink.
Throughout the day, there were food and ice cream trucks as well as a playground.
“It’s lovely to see everyone come together and enjoy this family friendly event, theirs loads of kids and families, and that’s what it’s all about: making connections and a sense of community,” said one of the local organising committee members.
They thanked The Downs GAA for their use of their facilities and all the stewards who helped organise the parking and the bar to be open for the evening event after. “We would also like to thank the local community for their help and efforts for all the fundraising events we had.”
