Council approves hotel plans for wellness centre

A Castlepollard boutique hotel has been approved for plans to develop a wellness centre as part of its business.

Castle Varagh Hotel Ltd approached the local authority planners about the development in April. The family run business have received permission to progress a development consisting of the construction of a single-storey, detached ancillary building (wellness centre) with internal courtyard within the grounds of the existing hotel.

The plans cover landscaping, boundary treatments and all associated works necessary to facilitate the proposed development at the hotel, which is on The Square in Castlepollard.

The Castle Varagh Hotel has 18 bedrooms, a restaurant and bar, and serves as a base for exploring local attractions like Fore Abbey, Tullynally Castle, and Lough Derravaragh.

Local authority planners approved the application subject to five conditions, which relate to adherence to the submitted plans, the under-grounding of cables, an undertaking to repair any damage to roads and the payment of a development contribution of €6,903.
