MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP GETS UNDERWAY

The Patterson Pump Ireland Ltd Minor Club Championship throws in with some big opening round pairings facing each other. Raharney and Drumraney clash in Joristown to open Division 1, with other titanic clashes in Lough Lene Gaels and Clonkill followed by Castletown-Geoghegan taking on the duo of Cullion/Castlepollard.

In Division 2, the amalgamation of St Oliver Plunkett’s/St Brigid’s meet their fellow combination side of St Munnas/Ringtown. Finally, Crookedwood and Delvin battle it out in the Wood. Brownstown have a ‘bye’.

U15 BLITZ

A huge congratulations to our Westmeath U15s who were crowned U15 Leinster Development Blitz Cup Champions in Wexford on Sunday. The girls were outstanding throughout the day, winning their opening three games against Meath, Dublin, and Laois before facing Kildare in the Cup Final. Having lost to Kildare earlier in the group stages, they showed incredible determination, resilience, and teamwork to turn things around and claim the title.

Congratulations to all the players on a brilliant achievement, and well done to the management team of Christo, Johnny Pat, and Karen for their dedication and guidance. A special shout-out also to Denise Muldoon, who took time out of her busy schedule to lend a helping hand on the day. Your support was greatly appreciated. Finally, a sincere thank you to Leinster Camogie for organising such a fantastic event. It was a brilliantly run day, and a credit to everyone working behind the scenes whose hard work ensured everything ran so smoothly. Well done to everyone involved – a fantastic achievement and a day to remember! Thanks also to senior keeper, Fiona Keating, for offering her time to give the U15 goalkeepers a full goalkeeper coaching session last week also!

FESTIVAL OF HURLING/CAMOGIE

Congratulations to Castletown-Geoghegan who ran a wonderful festival of hurling and camogie last week, July 11th. Many clubs participated in what was an amazing occasion for the club. Well done to all in Castletown-Geoghegan who were involved in the organization of it all.

CONGRATS

Well done to Delvin’s Amelia Hatton who took part in the half-time Cumann na mBunscol games in a full Croke Park the other week on the day when Kilkenny and Waterford contested the camogie and Limerick and Clare met in the hurling. A fantastic day for Amelia!

COMMISERATIONS

Hard luck to the Westmeath ladies’ footballers who were narrowly beaten by Roscommon in the All-Ireland Intermediate semi-final at the weekend. We know Frank, Fiona and all the team put in such huge effort this season to push on from the amazing Leinster title and even though it did not work out in the last four, they did themselves and the maroon jersey so proud.
