Teagasc invite to forestry section at Tullamore Show

The ‘Forestry and Sustainable Living’ Section is not to be missed at this year’s Tullamore Show. Coordinated by the Teagasc Forestry Development Department, it will host a wide range of trade stands from across the forestry and renewable energy sectors and will showcase an array of products, services and activities.

With a growing awareness of the many environmental, social and economic benefits that trees can provide on the farm, a wealth of information will be available at the Forestry and Sustainable Living Section. Whether you have an interest in trees, farm forests, timber products or wood markets, you will be spoilt for choice with the range of exhibitors on show. All aspects of the forest cycle from tree planting and forest management to wood utilisation and timber sales options will be represented on the day.

There is also growing interest in the wood as a clean green, home-grown fuel source. Wood-based energy is also a proven technology with high efficiency, and it can provide great potential on the farm. A visit to the Forestry and Sustainable Living section will provide an opportunity to learn of new product lines and innovations in renewable energy.

The Teagasc Forestry Development Stand will again be prominent in Tullamore and advisory and research staff will be on hand to assist with farm forestry queries. Whether your inquiries relate to farm income enhancement, environmental benefits or climate change mitigation opportunities, a visit to the Teagasc Forestry stand will be worthwhile. It will allow you to avail of the latest advice and cutting-edge research within Teagasc.

As well as free information packs available for all visitors, there will also be free competitions for adults and kids; so make sure to visit Row W (stand 441) .

Liam Kelly of Teagasc, has coordinated the Forestry and Energy Section for many years. He said: “The Forestry and Sustainable Living Section will host trade stands that will showcase the many aspects of these rapidly developing sectors. Twenty-one different companies will be in the ‘Forestry and Sustainable Living section’ of the show this year. It is important that Forestry is seen as a mainstream enterprise like all other farm initiatives.

“The many opportunities provided by farm forestry will be highlighted and there will also be emphasis on opportunities for landowners within the current 2023-2027 Forestry Programme. The Forest and Energy Section at the Tullamore Show that is worth a visit.”

Liam and his Teagasc colleagues will be there to welcome visitors on August 9. The Forestry and Energy Section will be on Rows W & X, adjacent to the Yellow Catering Village (or the Yellow Car Park entrance, Gate 8).
