Youth cast set sail with Moana JR at Mullingar Arts Centre

Audiences at Mullingar Arts Centre will be on a journey across the Pacific this week when a talented young cast presents Disney’s Moana JR.

Based on the popular Disney film, Moana JR follows the titular character as she sets sail from her island home on a mission to save her people and discover the truth about her heritage.

Along the way, she encounters the legendary demigod Maui, and together they face challenges, discover unexpected friendship and learn to believe in themselves.

Filled with vibrant music, humour, adventure and heart, the production explores themes of courage, identity, friendship, family and self-belief.

For the young performers, the production has been an opportunity to develop their skills in acting, singing and dancing while working together as an ensemble to bring a much-loved story to life.

Director Sarah Nally said: “Moana JR is a wonderful story for young people. It reminds us that being brave doesn’t mean having no fear – it means believing in yourself and taking the first step.

“We are extremely proud of this cast, who have worked tirelessly on bringing this production together.”

Working under the guidance of Greg Bentick (musical director) and Amy Mulreid (choreographer) the group look forward to welcoming audiences at Mullingar Arts Centre on Friday 25 and Saturday 26 September at 7pm, and to the Sunday matinee on 27 September at 3pm.
