Oodles and Doodles: twenty years of creating community connections
Westmeath Examiner Community and Sports Awards
As Rev Wallace Moore, representing Oodles and Doodles, accepted the award for Social Enterprise of the Year, he said he regularly meets mothers there who had attended when they were children – “that is the community connection [the group] has” he said.
For more than 20 years, Oodles and Doodles have been running as a playgroup to connect toddlers and their parents and guardians with the wider community.
Whether you are new to the area or a new parent, Oodles and Doodles encourage fresh faces to pop in.
The group meetings are every Wednesdays from 10.30am to 12 noon, and though they are run by the Presbyterian Church, Rev Moore said they are “open for all faiths and no faiths”. Having moved to Mullingar last year, Rev Moore praised the volunteers who have kept the group going over two decades.
He said this year they have connected with other groups from Tullamore and Galway, forming connections and friendships everywhere they go.
