NYRAH Beauty day at Whelehans Pharmacy

Whelehans Pharmacy, stockists and sellers of the NYRAH Beauty range, welcomed founder and owner Lorraine Corcoran to their Pearse Street shop on Thursday week last, where she shared expert advice, skincare tips and how to get the most from the NYRAH range.

There was a large attendance at the event, in part because of the huge social media following the brand has, but customers who didn’t make it needn’t worry, as Whelehans team member Dominique Matthews is a NYRAH brand ambassador and is in-store expert on NYRAH, and will help find the products best suited to you.

Originally from Ballymahon, Lorraine Corcoran was delighted to spend time at Whelehans last Thursday week, giving her experienced opinion in response to their questions about beauty and skincare.

She is a mechanical engineer bye training and has a background in pharma, medical devices and medical research. About four years ago, Lorraine found her “true calling, and I now spends her time researching and formulating new products for the Nyrah Beauty range”.

Explaining some of Lorraine’s appeal, Dominique said: “She was a chartered medical engineer and she is innovation driven – she has that sort of a mindset and it stems from 20-plus years in product design and manufacturing, where she developed hundreds of products for well-known brands.

“Drawing on that expertise, she created Nyrah Beauty skincare where science, purpose and nature merged to deliver results driven skincare.”

The name of the brand is inspired by Indian and Sanskrit traditions where beauty is connected to wisdom, creativity, and inner strength, said Dominique, and in Hindu mythology, those characteristics are embodied by the goddess Saraswati, one of whose symbols is a peacock, which influenced the Nyrah logo.

Dominique and the Whelehans team reported a successful evening at the pharmacy: “We stock the full range, she does a tanning range as well, and we had 20% off on the day (which we will continue).

"The trial packs are successful – they have four, six, seven little individual samples for people to try out, and then they actually come back to us and then buy the full size bottles.

“So we met her team, she had her social media team with her as well, and we all just had a great time, a great laugh – it was a good girl’s day out.”

On their website, Nyrah say their ethos is, ‘Feeling the best in your own skin is key’. The origin is when Lorraine found a gap in the market for skincare for older women.

On social media, she said: “Everything was either for teenage breakouts or chasing glass skin in your 20s. Once you hit your 40s, it is like you disappear. I felt forgotten by an industry I had worked in for ages, and I knew I was not alone.”
