Over 74,000 students receive their Junior Cycle results today

Nearly 74,000 students will receive their Junior Cycle exam results today, with schools being able to access them from this morning.

Schools can access their results digitally via the State Examination Commission’s Schools Portal, and then it will be up to the principals to distribute the scores to the students.

This is another record-breaking year, with a slight increase of 1% since last year, but it is the fourth year in a row that the number of students taking the exam has exceeded 70,000.

This is also the fifth year of the reformed Junior Cycle curriculum, with around 651,000 grades in 21 subjects provided to students this year alone.

Minister for Education and Youth Hildegarde Naughton said: “Today is an important day for the 73,879 young people across the country as they receive their Junior Cycle results, and I want to congratulate every student on reaching this goal.

"These results reflect the hard work, commitment and resilience you have shown throughout your Junior Cycle journey. Whether you receive the results you hoped for or not, it is important to remember that these grades are just one part of your story. Your talents, interests and determination will continue to shape your future in many different ways.

“Over the last three years, you have developed new skills, built friendships, learned from challenges and grown in confidence. Those experiences will stand with you as you continue your education and pursue your ambitions.

“I also want to acknowledge the support of parents, guardians, families, teachers, special needs assistants and entire school communities, whose encouragement and guidance have helped students reach this point. Finally, I would like to thank the State Examinations Commission and all those involved in delivering the examinations and results process."

Minister for State with special responsibility for Special Education and Inclusion Michael Moynihan added: “Congratulations to the thousands of students receiving their results today, and particularly those with special education needs. There are many people who have supported, guided and encouraged you throughout the past three years of Junior Cycle, and I also want to acknowledge them today. Results day is one milestone among many. I wish you all the very best as you continue with your education journey and continue to reach your potential.”
