Job cuts expected at Center Parcs in Ballymahon
Center Parcs has said "a small number" of roles at its holiday village in Ballymahon "may be at risk of redundancy".
News of the expected job cuts comes after the resort reported a 4% increase in operating profits, to €34.5 million, for the 12 months up to the end of April 23 this year.
In a brief statement issued to the Westmeath Independent, Center Parcs didn't provide a figure for the number of jobs that are currently in jeopardy.
"We have begun a review of some of our structures to make sure they remain right for our business today and for the future," a spokesperson for the company said. "Sadly, this means a small number of roles may be at risk of redundancy."
The company's statement went on to say that it recognised "the significant impact this uncertainty can have on colleagues and their families, ,adding that it was "committed to supporting everyone affected with care and respect throughout the consultation process".
Some 1,300 people are currently employed at the holiday village, which opened in the summer of 2019.
Last year, construction firm Sisk began the development of some 80 additional lodges as part of a €50m initial phase of further expansion at the resort, officially named Center Parcs Longford Forest.
According to the company's website, some of the new lodges will be ready for occupation by next month.
