Members competition

Wednesday’s Members 18-Hole Fourball Competition, sponsored by Female Boutique, attracted an excellent entry of 34 teams for cool but bright autumn conditions. It was the final 18-hole members competition of the season, and excellent scoring was the order of the day. Taking top honours were Miriam Finn (36) and Lady Captain Jackie Mills (17), 41pts; Elaine Murtagh (29) and Joanne Charles (18) finished second after a countback, also 41pts; Chair of Management Sheila Cassidy (20) and Marie O’Brien (33) third 39pts; Rosemary Whelehan (9) and Heidi Vambeck (30) fourth 38pts.

The accompanying 9-hole competition attracted a further 34 players. Audrey McNamee (18) captured first nett prize with 18pts; Anne Allen (25) finished second nett on 17pts; Josephine Purcell (16) claimed the Silver Prize with 15pts.

Unfortunately, there were insufficient entries in the men’s 18-hole competition for the event to proceed. Members are reminded that, under the One Club Model, men are welcome to participate in the Wednesday members competitions throughout the season.

Ladies club matchplay

The final of the Ladies High-Low Matchplay, sponsored by Khan Boutique Blackrock, on Saturday October 3 provided an excellent conclusion to another successful competition. In a twist, the two players who shared the title in 2025 were competing against one another this year. Defending champion Sheila Cassidy retained the title, and Jill Hegarty produced another outstanding campaign to reach the final. Both displayed great skill, determination and sportsmanship throughout the match, with some excellent golf on show.
