Westmeath County Council services to be affected by strike action

Westmeath County Council has warned of disruption to public services on Wednesday, October 14, due to planned strike action.

All Council buildings, including public libraries, will be closed to the public for the day, while other services may operate at reduced capacity.

The local authority said contingency arrangements would be put in place to maintain essential services, but members of the public have been advised to expect delays and disruption to normal operations.

Fire services and emergency homeless services will not be affected by the industrial action and are expected to continue operating as normal.

The Council has apologised for the inconvenience the closures and service interruptions may cause and thanked the public for their patience and understanding.

Residents who need to access Council services are being encouraged to check the local authority’s website and social media channels for the latest updates and information on any changes to service provision.

The planned action is expected to affect people using Council facilities across Westmeath, including those who rely on libraries and other public-facing services.

Members of the public are advised to make alternative arrangements where possible and to check for updates before travelling to Council offices or facilities on Wednesday.
