Lecture on geophysical survey of Famine Graveyard

Westmeath Archaeological and Historical Society will host Cian Hogan from the Discovery Programme to give a lecture detailing the many interesting findings from the survey conducted in the Famine Graveyard last August.

The graveyard is now the commemorative centre for our acknowledgment of the impact of the Great Famine in north Westmeath.

The survey was supported by the Heritage Council and Cian will discuss the main findings of the research on the heritage site.

The Graveyard is looked after by the Mullingar Famine Graveyard Committee, who are delighted to have received the funding; it will further enhance knowledge of the significance of the burial ground.

The lecture is in the Greville at 8pm on Wednesday 4 November next. All welcome.
