Slevin overcomes Heffernan to take the spoils
The 2026 Midland Intermediate Snooker Championship Final was held in St Mary’s Snooker Club rooms on Bishopsgate St Mullingar during the last week.
Snooker Referee duties were carried out by Richie Toal assisted by Pat Donohoe. The final, the best of five frames, saw the in-form Niall Heffernan take on Seán Slevin.
This was the most one sided final of the year and Sean Slevin just took control in this final from the start. Seán was at different standard in this match and Niall struggled from the very first ball. He did rally in frame two, but it was not enough to alter the outcome as Seán held his composure to take the honours.
Pat Donohoe Tournament Director first presented finalist Niall Heffernan with his voucher for his valiant effort of reaching the final. Pat Donohoe then presented the Midland Intermediate Snooker Championship Cup to the 2026 Champion, Seán Slevin.
Ger O’Connor thanked the Club Treasurer Pat Donohoe for his work as tournament director and Richie Toal for Refereeing duties. He also thanked Mick Kane, club chairman, for all the tournament sheets and work behind the scenes, and the club members for playing their matches on time and in the good spirit of the game of snooker.
