'Phoenix of Gaza' screening and Q&A with Yousef Alhelou
Mullingar 4 All and Longford-Westmeath Ireland Palestine Solidarity Campaign are hosting a screening of ‘The Phoenix of Gaza’, a film directed by Yousef Alhelou, a Palestinian journalist and film director from Gaza, who is now based in the UK.
The film screening in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar on Sunday 22 June from 7.30pm is part of a fundraiser. Tickets cost €10, and are available on Eventbrite – people can also pay at the door on the evening.
All money raised will go to Yousef and his family and will help fund ‘The Phoenix of Gaza’ tour.
He has shown his docu-film in Ireland, the UK, Barbados and other places.
The documentary is approximately 45 minutes long and it will be followed by a Q&A session with Alhelou.
‘The Phoenix of Gaza’ is unseen footage of Gaza’s beauty and the resilience of its residents, captured by a Palestinian filmmaker and journalist.
A unique personal film, shot just weeks before the genocide began, it shows rare footage of Gaza before its destruction and now serves as an archive of its past.
