Route 22 timetable change cuts Mullingar stop
Mullingar commuters and travellers face a significant change as Expressway announces a revised timetable for its Route 22 route, effective from August 24, which will see the town no longer directly served by this service.
The updated Route 22 schedule, running between Ballina, Longford, Dublin Airport, and Dublin city, introduces a clearer distinction between weekday and weekend/public holiday services and aims to improve punctuality and customer experience. However, under the new timetable, Mullingar will no longer be a stop on Route 22, with passengers advised to use Route 23 (Sligo-Dublin) to travel to and from the town.
Route 22 will continue to stop at Ballinalack and Maynooth, and the revised schedule expands service to other destinations including Liffey Valley Shopping Centre and the Lucan Spa Hotel.
Andrew Yates, Head of Expressway, said the timetable changes were designed with customer feedback in mind, aiming to simplify schedules and reduce delays, particularly during peak travel times. "All of the changes introduced have been customer centred and driven by feedback to ensure smoother, more reliable journeys," he noted.
For Mullingar residents, the shift means adjusting to new travel options and potentially connecting through Route 23 for access to Dublin and the airport. Expressway advises passengers to review the new timetable online at expressway.ie and to book tickets in advance to secure their seats.
The revised timetable is available online and in physical form at stations and onboard buses.
