Details for Manchán Magan month’s mind at Uisneach
Dia dhaoibh go léir,
Táimid ag súil go mór libh a fheiceáil amárach ar Uisneach i gcuimhne ar Manchán.
The family of Manchán Magan have some updated information for those who intend to join them on the Hill of Uisneach tomorrow, Saturday, in memory of Manchán.
They say “it will be a beautiful day of celebration and intention”, but have some logistical practicalities to make visitors aware of.
Due to the heavy rainfall of the last few days, they have had to change the parking facilities for the day.
There is now no parking at Uisneach.
Instead, a number of nearby car parks will be available and a bus service, arranged by Uisneach management, will take people to the hill.
There are three car parks in Loughnavalley and Killare but there are limited numbers of parking spaces.
They are at the Loughnavalley GAA club, Loughnavalley Parish Church, and the Uisneach Inn, Killare.
Those locations are recommended only for those approaching Uisneach from the west, north, or south.
When those car parks are full, visitors will be directed to the Mullingar car park.
Parking for those travelling from the east:
All vehicles travelling from the east, from Dublin, or through Mullingar, should use the R394 car park on the edge of Mullingar.
It is here: https://maps.app.goo.gl/nFuJfeyEfYdX97qd8
Shuttle buses will operate from 11.30am to 1.30pm from that location.
Returning shuttle buses will begin at 3.30pm.
Blue badge (disabled) parking is available at Uisneach.
There is a huge community effort and large numbers of volunteers have come forward to make the day all possible, so visitors are asked to keep that in mind on the day.
The Hill of Uisneach is an exposed and open site, so appropriate footwear and clothing are advised.
There will be a coffee and food van on site at the visitor centre, but bring a flask of tea and a snack if you think you might need it.
A film crew will be filming the event. If you would rather not be filmed, please let them know.
“We look forward to seeing you there. Le gach dea ghuí, Magan family and Uisneach team.”
