‘Spookiest walk of the year’, in Fore on Halloween night

The spooky walk in the village for Fore was a major success on October 31, Halloween night, and hundreds of families braved the scare trail. The spooky walk took place at 7pm on the Nancy to Nellie walking trail, which was transformed into the “Spookiest Walk of the Year”.

The walk was designed for older children and adults, and the trail was decorated with lines of candle-lit jars and hand-carved pumpkins decorated by the local school children.

A scare team lurked among the trees and under brushes, grabbing legs, running after participants with chainsaws and spooky masks all along the trail, sending shivers down participants’ spines and creating a heart-pounding experience.

Additionally, for younger children, an earlier sensory-friendly hour took place (5-6pm), providing a gentle and inclusive experience for those with additional sensory needs, where they could watch organisers set up and decorate the trail with pumpkins and lights.

After completing the walk, participants were invited to see a fireworks show at Fore Abbey and after to relax back at Abbey House to enjoy refreshments, baked goods, warmth and the chance to see if their tickets had won any of the spot prizes.

The event was organised in conjunction with the Fore tractor run that took place on Sunday October 26, and all proceeds made at both events are in support of the restoration of Collinstown Fore Parish Churches, St Feichin’s National School in Fore, and St Mary’s National School in Collinstown.
