Greville Arms dining room stuffed for Soroptimists Christmas lunch

The main dining room at the Greville Arms was packed on Friday from midday till 3pm and the buzz of chat and people enjoying themselves was audible from the lobby.

The event was organised by Mullingar and District Soroptimists, and Sarah McCormack took a minute out of hosting duty to tell the Westmeath Examiner about it.

“Today is the 5th of December and we’re here in the Greville Arms Hotel for our annual Soroptimists Christmas charity lunch. There’s an amazing crowd here today. We have sold more than 240 tickets.

“Everybody’s in great spirits. Everybody loves this event because it’s the start of Christmas. And most importantly, it is for charity fundraising.

“Each year we take the proceeds that we make from the ticket sales today from the raffle, and we then later on share out that money to the various charities across Mullingar and the surrounding areas.

“Of course, we wouldn’t be able to do this without the wonderful sponsors we have for our raffle, and indeed, thanks to everybody that supported the event.

“It’s a great Christmas occasion here in the Greville Arms Hotel, Mullingar.”

Sarah added thanks to everyone who bought tickets and who was present on the day.

“We really appreciate it, because without that wonderful support from Mullingar and surrounding areas, it wouldn’t be possible for us to achieve this here today.”
