Seeking memories of Streete Vintage Show
Editor,
As the founder of the Streete Vintage Show, I would like to look back to our inception in 2002 and acknowledge and thank most sincerely the public, exhibitors, and supporters who have been with us since the beginning. I am so grateful to have known so many gentle and wonderful people. I will always remember those who helped us in so many ways, especially those who are no longer with us (RIP). For me, their memories and contributions will never be forgotten.
This show was born from an idea to raise funds to contribute to the building of a community centre in the parish of Streete. Since then, the Streete Vintage Show and Family Day has grown from a local gathering into one of the premier vintage events in the midlands, attracting thousands of people annually.
As we approach the 25th anniversary, I want to produce a commemorative book to serve as a place in history, documenting the machines, the milestones, and most importantly, the people who have made the show such a success.
To make this history even more complete, I am also calling on anyone who owned or worked in a garage within a 30-mile radius of Streete to tell their stories. So many of those businesses have come and gone, and this book is a perfect place to encapsulate that past which might otherwise be forgotten in time.
I am particularly seeking:
• Photographs of the Streete Vintage Show throughout the years.
• Anecdotes regarding the founding of the event and the many ‘characters’ who have graced the show.
• Stories and photos from local garages within 30 miles of the parish.
This book aims to be a definitive history of the show and a tribute to the friends and neighbours who put so much hard work into the community of Streete and district.
If you have photographs or stories to share, please contact me directly.
