Celebrating community champions in Westmeath

Westmeath County Council have announced that the Community Grants and Awards for 2026 are now open for applications.

The grants and awards help the council to recognise individuals and groups and organisations making a meaningful impact in the community. They are designed to strengthen local efforts and improve the overall quality of life and wellbeing of communities.

The Community Action Grants are aimed at providing financial support to community, and voluntary not for profit groups who are responding to locally identified needs within their communities.

Westmeath County Council now invite applications for the following grants:

• Community Action Grant

• Tidy Towns Grant

• Residents Associations Grant

Cathaoirleach Awards

The Cathaoirleach Awards are now open for applications and nominations. The Cathaoirleach Awards awards celebrate the people and groups who make a real difference in their communities. By entering or nominating, you help ensure that outstanding voluntary, community, cultural, sporting, and civic contributions receive the recognition they deserve.

The following awards are now open to applications and nominations:

• Nominations for Cathaoirleach Award for Westmeath Person/Group of the Year

• Community project of the year Award

• Resident Association Project Award

• Age Friendly Recognition Award

• Pride of Place in the Community Competition

• STEM Grant (Science, Technology, Engineering and Mathematics Grant)

• Schools Environmental Competition
