The lunch is enjoyed by upwards of 250 people who are regular supporters of the work of Soroptimists. It is an ideal occasion to catch up with friends before the Christmas rush and many businesses take the opportunity of hosting a table for their employees to celebrate Christmas.
The proceeds from this lunch are dispersed to local charities to support the valuable services they provide for those most vulnerable in our community.
On Tuesday May 12, the proceeds and donations from the 2025 Christmas Lunch were presented to the following organisations: Ben’s Lifeline €500; LARCC €1,000; TEAM €2,000; Tanzanian Heavenly Homes €500; Women’s Community Projects €500; Team Hope Shoe Box Appeal €500; St Vincent De Paul €1,000; Meals on Wheels Mullingar €500; Community Christmas Lunch organised by Mullingar Community Policing €500.
A total of €7,000 was presented to the nine charities.
Mullingar Soroptimists are ever grateful for all the support they receive from those that attend the lunch and to the many donations received from local businesses.
The 2026 Christmas Lunch is scheduled for Friday December 4 in the Greville Arms Hotel.
