Rectory Field hosts day of summer fun
The community of Castlepollard and the wider area turned out in force for the popular Summer Field Day at the end of May.
The Rectory Field in Castlepollard hosted an event that boasted an array of activities with something for everyone on Saturday May 30.
The field day is in aid of Castlepollard, Oldcastle and Mountnugent Parish Funds and it included a barbecue, cake stalls, plant stalls, fun activities, games for children and cream tea stalls.
Visitors were encouraged to bring their dogs along with them, as the a dog show is one of the most popular parts of the event.
“We saw lots of sausage snatchers, scruffy mutts and very obedient dogs arrive for the Castlepollard Field Day Dog Show on Saturday,” Caroline Pilkington told the Examiner.
“We had lots of winners across our five classes: Dog handled by child under 12, the scruffiest mutt, the dog with the waggiest tail, the most obedient dog and the best sausage snatcher.
“Despite early showers, the field day was a great success and raised over €9,500. The Dog Show was kindly judged by Ion Hamilton and drew a good crowd.”
