Cash found in Aldi car park returned to owner
A substantial sum of money discovered blowing around the car park of Aldi on Green Road, Mullingar has been successfully reunited with its owner, thanks to the honesty of a customer and the quick actions of store staff and local Gardaí.
The incident unfolded when a customer noticed cash scattered across the Aldi car park and immediately brought it to the attention of store employees. Recognising the importance of locating the rightful owner, staff secured the money and contacted Gardaí, who took possession of the funds while an investigation was carried out.
Working together, Aldi staff reviewed the store’s CCTV footage and were able to identify a vehicle linked to the incident. Using the vehicle’s registration number, Gardaí traced the owner and confirmed that the money belonged to them, allowing the cash to be safely returned.
The successful outcome has been praised as an example of community spirit and effective cooperation between members of the public, local businesses and law enforcement.
An Aldi spokesperson said: “Our team in Mullingar was thrilled to be able to help safely return lost money to its owner. Our store colleagues pride themselves on going above and beyond for our customers every day, and this is a great example of that commitment.”
The owner has since been reunited with the missing cash.
