Community go extra mile for Coralstown NS fundraiser
A strong sense of community spirit was on display at the recent Coralstown National School 5k fundraiser, for which parents, students, staff, and local supporters came together.
Speaking after the event, principal Michael Ward expressed gratitude to everyone who contributed to making the fundraiser a success.
“On behalf of the school and the organising committee, I want to sincerely thank all our sponsors for supporting tonight’s 5k fundraiser.” He added that the names of sponsors were displayed throughout the school hall and foyer as a mark of appreciation.
Mr Ward encouraged attendees to continue supporting the local businesses and individuals who support the school community.
Special thanks were extended to Helen and Matty Glennon for sponsoring the first-place prizes and for allowing the use of their field across from the school for parking on the evening.
Mr Ward also acknowledged the efforts of committee members Francis Murtagh and Mary Walsh for their work in helping organise the event.
Westmeath County Council supplied railings and cones, which helped ensure the smooth running and safety of the event.
Appreciation was expressed to the local authority for that and to the many volunteers, helpers, and stewards who assisted on the night.
“There are far too many people to mention individually, but we genuinely could not do this without you,” Mr Ward said.
A heartfelt thank you was also given to parents and members of the wider school community who took part in the fundraiser, donated refreshments such as treats and sandwiches, or supported the event in any way.
Finally, special recognition was given to school secretary Joanna, who was described by Mr Ward as the driving force behind the fundraiser.
“Tonight is a credit to you. Thank you again for everything you do for our school community,” he said.
Funds raised via the 5k will go towards supporting school initiatives and enhancing resources for students.
