Streete Parish Park plans for expansion

The community in Streete have put forward comprehensive plans for a major revamp of their parish park.

The Streete Parish Park Committee have made an application for modifications, alternations and partial demolition to existing Streete Parish Community Centre including extending the centre with a new two-storey, part single storey extension.

The proposed ground floor extension will consist of new access stairs and lifts, handball and badminton court, theatre hall, plant room, medical room, reception area, community shop, and associated storage areas.

The application covers a children’s play zones, coffee and meeting room, kitchen area, multi-purpose room, bar extension, toilets and team and referee’s changing rooms with shower facilities.

The plans cover a first floor extension which will consist of new access stairs and lifts, gym extension, new resource rooms, storage, external sauna and steam rooms with changing areas, as well as an internal and external viewing gallery areas.

The external developments will include the reconfiguration of the existing car parking layout including seven disabled and 11 EV charging spaces, bicycle parking, bus parking and public lighting.

The plans cover adjustment to the existing walking track, a new all-weather astro-turf pitch area with basketball area and a proposed synthetic running track surrounded by associated perimeter fencing and floodlighting.

The ambitious plans cover a new external soft playground area with perimeter fencing, construction of a new Men’s Shed, Women’s Shed with public toilets.

There are plans for a section of a new two-metre high concrete block boundary wall and the installation of a proprietary wastewater treatment system, Ecoflo Coco filter and Gravel distribution percolation area and all associated site development and ancillary works

The application was received on July 3 and planners anticipate reaching a decision on August 27, 2026.
