The time has come for the 2026 Westmeath Camogie Championships to get going. We are delighted to welcome back our sponsors David Smyth Catering (Senior) and Deelside Coaches (Junior) and also to say a big thank you to Technical University of the Shannon (TUS) in Athlone for coming on board as sponsors for the inaugural Intermediate Championship.
No doubt in the Senior that our new champions from 2025, Clonkill, will be hoping to repeat the dose. Hot on their heels will be a plethora of sides, not least beaten finalists, Raharney, Division 1 league finalists, Lough Lene Gaels, 2025 Senior B finalists Drumraney, and the rising stock of Castletown-Geoghegan. We look forward to the championship for 2026.
MINOR CHAMPIONSHIP STARTS
The Patterson Pump Ireland Ltd Minor Club Championship threw in with some big opening round pairings facing each other. Raharney and Drumraney clashed in Joristown to open Division 1, with other titanic clashes in Lough Lene Gaels and Clonkill followed by Castletown-Geoghegan taking on the duo of Cullion/Castlepollard. Drumraney, in the end, conceded to Raharney while the Gaels found a strong scoring run to overcome Clonkill. A close contest saw Cullion/Castlepollard pip Castletown-Geoghegan.
In Division 2, Brownstown had the ‘bye’ round. The amalgamation of St Oliver Plunkett’s/St Brigid’s met their fellow combination side of St Munnas/Ringtown, but it was the Munnas/Ringtown gang who hit the net five times to take victory. Finally, Crookedwood and Delvin battled it out where goals, yet again, proved crucial in the Wood winning.
U15 DEVELOPMENT FINAL
Westmeath will take on Galway in the U15 Development Championship Crossover Final in TEG Cusack Park on Wednesday 22nd July at 7pm. Wishing all the group the very best of luck. All support appreciated

Well done to all our sides who were part of the Camán2Leinster event last week. It is brilliant to see so many numbers involved and thanks to everyone who was involved in the running of the event, particularly given the scorching heat!
