Council seeking views of public on arts in Westmeath

People across Westmeath are being invited to have their say on the future of arts and culture in the county as the county council begin work on a new five-year plan.

The Arts Office are developing the Westmeath Arts Plan 2026-2030, which will set out priorities for arts activity, investment and support across the county over the next five years.

Members of the public, artists, arts workers and creative practitioners are being encouraged to attend a series of consultation workshops and share their views and ideas.

The council say the experiences and insights gathered through the consultation will help shape future arts programmes and opportunities in Westmeath.

A public consultation workshop will take place at Mullingar Arts Centre on Saturday, August 29, from 11am to 1pm.

A second public workshop will be held at the Dean Crowe Theatre in Athlone on Monday, August 31, from 7pm to 9pm, while an online consultation will take place on Wednesday, September 2, from 7pm to 9pm.

There will also be a dedicated consultation workshop for artists and arts workers at the Lakeview Room at Belvedere House, Gardens and Park, Mullingar, on Thursday, August 27, from 5pm to 7pm.
