Castlepollard company Mergon expands with Sligo acquisition
Castlepollard-based manufacturing group Mergon has announced the expansion of its healthcare manufacturing capabilities with the acquisition of a specialist Sligo company.
Mergon Group has completed the acquisition of Inmo Tech Limited, an Enniscrone-based manufacturer of precision injection-moulded components for the healthcare and medical device sectors.
The deal further strengthens the position of Mergon, which has its roots in Castlepollard and operates internationally across Ireland, the United States, the Czech Republic, the UK and Mexico.
Mergon supplies components and assemblies to major healthcare companies, including Abbott, Beckman Coulter and Pfizer, as well as customers in the automotive and industrial sectors.
The company said the acquisition of Inmo Tech will bring complementary injection moulding expertise, an established manufacturing facility and an experienced team into the Mergon Group.
The Enniscrone operation will also gain access to Mergon’s wider engineering, automation, product development, project management and global manufacturing capabilities.
Commenting on the acquisition, Mergon Group CEO Stéphane Maravel said Inmo Tech had built a strong reputation for specialist injection moulding in healthcare and described the business as an “excellent strategic fit” for Mergon.
He said the two companies could build on Inmo Tech’s existing strengths while supporting customers and creating further growth opportunities.
Inmo Tech General Manager Brendan Cunningham said joining Mergon represented “an important new chapter” for the company, adding that Mergon’s scale, resources and international experience would support its continued development.
The acquisition represents another expansion of the Castlepollard company’s presence in the highly specialised healthcare manufacturing sector.
Mergon describes itself as an engineering-led global manufacturing group, designing and producing innovative plastic components and assemblies.
The company combines engineering, product development and advanced manufacturing capabilities across its international operations, with its Castlepollard base remaining an important part of the group’s Westmeath identity.
