Kinnegad First Responders launch fundraising appeal
A voulnteer from Kinnegad First Responders has launched a fundraising appeal on GoFundMe to help ensure the volunteer group can continue providing its valuable service to the local community into 2027.
The appeal, titled Supporting Kinnegad First Responders Into 2027, aims to raise €1,200 to help cover the costs associated with equipment, training and essential resources required to maintain the service.
At the time of writing, the campaign had raised €716 through 29 donations, reaching 60 per cent of its target.
Community First Responder Katie Kennedy, who has been involved with the group for the past two years, made the appeal and highlighted the importance of supporting the volunteers who assist people during medical emergencies.
In her appeal, Katie said being part of Kinnegad First Responders had been “incredibly rewarding”, allowing her to support people in the community when they needed it most.
She explained that, as a voluntary organisation, the group relies on donations to meet its running costs and ensure it has the necessary equipment and training to continue its work.
With the end of 2026 approaching, Katie said she hoped to help provide the group with a strong financial foundation for the year ahead.
She encouraged people to contribute whatever they could afford, stressing that even small donations would be greatly appreciated. Those unable to donate were also urged to share the fundraising page to help spread awareness of the campaign.
The group is also welcoming new volunteers who are interested in becoming Community First Responders and helping make a difference locally.
Anyone wishing to support the appeal can visit GoFundMe and search for Supporting Kinnegad First Responders Into 2027. Further information about the group's work is available through its Facebook page.
The appeal offers local people an opportunity to support a volunteer service dedicated to helping their neighbours when urgent assistance is needed.
