The Midlands Region of the Chartered Institute of Personnel and Development (CIPD) has announced details of an upcoming talk, ‘The Future World of Work – The Practicalities of Flexible/Remote Working’. The event will take place in the Sheraton Hotel Athlone at 6.15pm on Wednesday, October 9. There will be a networking opportunity from 5.30pm, followed by the speakers commencing at 6.15pm sharp. This is the first event in an exciting programme of events for 2019/2020 provided by the CIPD Midlands Region Committee.

The speakers for this event are Adrienne Mongey, Talent (HR) Business Partner Ireland at Shopify, and Dr Sarah Kieran, lecturer and researcher at The University of Limerick. The event will focus in on a combination of academic research (understanding the digitalisation of work) and the practicalities within Shopify of work from home and remote working staff.

Dr Kieran will focus on the effect of digital transformation on employees, particularly from a skills perspective. She will discuss the findings for leaders and HR professionals on how the digitalisation of work could be better addressed from a recruitment, development and flexible work practices perspective.

Adrienne Mongey will explain why Shopify chose the work from home model, culture and belonging for work from home and remote employees, and the gains and challenges of the model for Shopify.

The CIPD Midlands region provides a forum for HR and business leaders in public and private enterprises to network and share information, skills and best practice in the area of human resource management, employment law, employee and industrial relations. Register on Eventbrite to attend the event.
