String quartet to play in Castlepollard
RTE"s Vanbrugh String Quartet will entertain classical music lovers in north Westmeath on Saturday week next, January 31, as concert evenings resume at the plush Tullynally Castle and Gardens on Castlepollard"s Pakenhamhall Road.Joined by viola soloist Cian O Duill on viola, the quartet will perform three string pieces from well known composers: Joseph Haydn"s 'Erdody' String Quartet No. 5 in D Major (Op. 76), one of the Austrian composer"s most celebrated works; Beethoven"s "Harp" String Quartet No. 10, and Felix Mendelssohn"s String Quintet No. 2 in B flat major.The concert kicks off at 8pm on January 31, and tickets are now available at €20 apiece.The Vanbrugh String Quartet is based in Cork as the Resident Quartet to RTE, and they are also Artists in Residence to University College, Cork, and the founders of the internationally acclaimed West Cork Chamber Music Festival.The group"s current overseas season includes concerts in the United States, the UK, Austria, Estonia and China.The soloist for the evening, Cian O Duill, is a founder member of the Regent String Quartet, the Rothko Trio and an honours MA Music graduate from the University of Limerick.
