Tickets on sale for biggest raffle in club's history
At this time of year most golf clubs are winding down their activities, but Dermot Kenny (Captain) and his hard working committee have ensured that this is one of the busiest years on record for the club.Currently they are processing applications for the attractive offer to new members, whereby membership from now until the end of 2010 can be got for a payment of €500. This is proving popular and the earlier you avail of it the better value you will get.Tickets are now on sale also for the biggest raffle in the club's history, where life membership is available to one lucky ticket holder at a draw to be held in January. In addition a 1-year membership can be won in the first of the monthly draws (26th October 2009), which is an added incentive to get your tickets in early.Entries for the Winter League are also published and quite a few teams have already entered. Full details of the organisation and rules for this year are available on the Application Form, which will be available on-line later in the week.CompetitionsCongratulations to Liam Galvin (6) who showed a welcome return to form to take the weekend competition with 40pts. The Category prizes went to Brendan Daly (7) - 37pts, Brian Brady (11) - 38pts and James Slevin (17) - 39pts. David Coughlan (4) won the Gross prize, while Michael Rabbitte (18) claimed the Veterans prize for the second time in three weeks with 37pts.David Coughlan also featured in the Thursday open, coming in one point behind the impressive winner, Declan Rooney (22) who scored 40 pts. The September monthly running competition was won by Mary Egan with 57 pts. From this week draws for the weekly competition on Wednesday will be made at usual times until the 2pm draw and after that players can arrange partners to play. The draw has been made for the Winter League and the list of teams may be seen in the ladies locker room. The Ladies Christmas Hamper Competition will take place on Sunday 18th October, time sheet in operation, tee times available from 11am to 1pm.
