‘Wild in Westmeath’ theme for Castlepollard St Patrick's Day

The North Westmeath St Patrick’s Day Parade committee have announced that the 2023 parade will take place at 5pm in Castlepollard this year.

The theme for the parade is ‘Wild in Westmeath’ – entry is free and registration is on the day.

This year the committee are encouraging as many schools, clubs, groups and businesses as possible to take part.

There will be eight award categories - Best School Project, Best Environmental, Best Vintage, Best Business, Most Topical, Funniest Float and Best Club as well as Best Novelty Act.

There will also be a special award, to be chosen by the judges on the day.

The committee are also hoping to increase the number of participating floats this year with three cash prizes up for grabs: first place float €500, second place float €300, and third place float €200.

This year’s parade promises to build on the success of 2022 and will be a great way for families to spend St Patrick’s Day 2023, said committee secretary, Lorraine Scally.
