Dunbia gain 100% Irish award

Leading Kilbeggan meat processing company, Dunbia has become the first red meat processing company in Ireland to gain the 'Guaranteed Irish' accreditation.Dunbia, which also has a plant in Slane, successfully met the strict guidelines needed to qualify for the accreditation last month.General Manager for Dunbia's Irish operations, Padraig Browne, said that the company is still fully committed to sustaining and developing business in this country."By displaying the 'Guaranteed Irish' logo on our products clearly highlights and showcases our commitment to this," he said."We are delighted to gain this accreditation and hope it has some mileage in increasing awareness and demand for top quality, Irish meat products."Dunbia officially launched its support of the 'Guaranteed Irish' scheme at its factory shop in Kilbeggan where there is an extensive range of top quality Irish meat products on offer. The products carry the 'Guaranteed Irish' logo as well as wall displays to further increase consumer awareness.The second phase for Dunbia is to promote the 'Guaranteed Irish' logo on all products despatched from the factory. Dunbia (Kilbeggan) currently exports 90 per cent of its products to 15 countries which will be fantastic exposure for the scheme and a mark of guarantee that Dunbia's products are 100 per cent Irish.Kilbeggan area Fianna Fail councillor Paul Daly said that businesses such as Dunbia were safe guarding local jobs and praised them for their efforts."In these tough economic times, we rely on companies like Dunbia to continue to develop and invest in the future, securing jobs and generating money for the local economy," he said.
