Volunteer Expo to match charities with workers

Two events are to be held in Westmeath in September, aimed at matching up volunteers with not-for-profit groups who could do with a hand out.The Westmeath Volunteer Centre is holding its first “Expo” on September 15 at the Sheraton Hotel in Athlone; and on September 22, a similar event at the Bloomfield House Hotel in Mullingar.“The Expo is being held to advertise to people who would like to become volunteers but who may not know exactly where or how to go about it,” said Ian O’Flynn of the Westmeath Volunteer Centre this month, adding that that the Expo is free to all and in the past has been a major success and beneficial to all who attended, whether as a volunteer group or as a potential volunteer.This event will also mark the 2010 National Day of Volunteers which will be on the 1st October 2010.Both events from from 11 a.m. to 4p.m. and organisations wishing to take part (free of charge), should contact Ian O’Flynn - ManagerWestmeath Volunteer Centre, Enterprise Technology and Innovation Centre, Clonmore Business Park, Mullingar, Westmeath.Telephone: 044-9348571 or 086-1743470.
