Film crew to hunt for actors in Mullingar
A search is underway for natural talent to take part in a new drama feature film called The Other Side of Sleep, with the scouting process taking place in the Mullingar Arts Centre on Sunday, January 17.Nick McGinley, casting director for Fastnet Films is looking for adults from the Midlands area between the age of 20 to 75, and two teenage age groups consisting of 14 to 16 year-old girls and 17 to 20 year old boys. No previous acting experience is required.The film, which is being developed with the assistance of the Irish Film Board, is about a young insomniac factory worker living in a small community.Written and directed by Rebecca Daly, the acclaimed Irish director of Joyriders, Fastnet Films will be scouting across the Midlands to look for men and women with the confidence and natural charisma to perform on film."What we need is a short interview with you on camera, where you'll be asked simple questions to record your accent and look to show the director and producer. These tapes will be used purely for audition purposes and will never appear in the public realm," Nick McGinley explained."We are running open auditions in Mullingar this coming Sunday, January 17 in Mullingar Arts Centre from 12pm until 7pm and in Athlone in St. Kieran's Community Centre on the Saturday, January 16th from 11am until 6pm," he continued.Nick ran drama workshops in primary schools all over Dublin for the Fastnet Films feature film Kisses seeing over 2,000 children and all over Cork for the forthcoming feature film The Runway. He also cast the upcoming feature One Hundred Mornings.
