Camino pilgrims well on their way

A large crowd set off from Fore this morning, to undertake a 22 km walk to Mullingar, on a trail being billed as Mullingar's "camino", in homage to the monks of yore who undertook the pilgrimage to Compostela in Spain.

Among those on hand to see off the walkers was Bishop Michael Smith, and among the participants were several local religious, including monks from a new Benedictine community in Co Meath.

The walkers are to stop at a number of religious sites along the way from Fore to Mullingar, and are due to begin arriving in Mullingar from around now on.
