Vera wins €49,400 on Winning Streak

Vera from Dundonnell, Ballinea, won €49,400 on the National Lottery Winning Streak Game Show on RTÉ, on Saturday.

Vera lost her husband Mathew in April. She has three daughters – Maria, Majella and Martina – five grandchildren and three great grandchildren.

Her daughter Maria is married and living in Denmark and she and her son Daniel came to Dublin for Winning Streak. Vera has been to Denmark on a couple of occasions.

Vera purchased the scratch card herself and had a strong feeling that she was going to be selected for last Saturday night. Once she heard Westmeath on the show, she just knew it had to be her!

She enjoys looking after and decorating her home and also likes to do some gardening. She says she is not particularly lucky, but her five-year-old great grandson, Billy Connolly, made her a good luck card during the week. It has Sinead and Marty depicted on it and Vera is spinning the wheel and winning €500,000!

Vera was not sure Sinead and Marty were pleased with how they look on the card, but she is delighted at Billy’s efforts. She is happy with the car she owns now but she would love to go on another trip to Denmark in the spring.
