Parents and friends present vehicles to Cill Cuan services

The parents and friends support group for the Cill Cuan services have presented vehicles to the organisation, at its Harbour Street premises.

Marian Gillespie, manager of Cill Cuan services, part of the Muiriosa Foundation, explained what was happening to the Westmeath Examiner.

“We’ve had a long association with the parents and friends – we depend on them to support us and we’re delighted to be in receipt of two Kia vehicles from them in recent months.

“This has been hugely beneficial as we have recently opened a community base in College Street in Mullingar and another base in D’Alton Park, so that allowed us give a vehicle each to staff there to work with the service users.

“The parents and friends have done huge fundraising, in the 20 years I’ve been here, they have a church gate collection every year, and when I approached them to say we needed some transport, they were only too happy to oblige.

“They also organised to buy a bus for the Lisadell Services, which are part of the Muiriosa Foundation as well, and they’re based in Robinstown.

“So, all in all, this allows us to bring our individuals out on programmes, on trips, into the community, to meet their goals.”
