Our season ended last week-end with our Annual Awards and BBQ evening on Saturday sandwiched between two Leinster Finals for our 13s and 14s. Unfortunately both teams lost out in their respective finals. First up were the Under 14s who played North Kildare in Edenderry on Saturday. They had played the same opposition in the Leinster League Under 14 final, so as they met in the Cup final it was obvious that they were the two top teams in Leinster this year.It was a great game of rugby, with Mullingar scoring first only for North Kildare to equalise and take the lead at half time. Mullingar equalised with 10 minutes remaining and the game looked like it was heading for a replay only for the Kildare side to score with the last play of the game. It was a cruel blow for our boys who had played extremely well during the game and were unlucky not to score again after they had drawn level in the second half.After the disappointment it was back to the club for our BBQ and Awards evening. There was a great attendance by players and family members and the weather was just right for the evening.A big thank you to all the people who helped during the evening. The Under 15s squad were presented with their medals for winning the Midland League. Well done to Paul Maxwell, Larry Rasinskas and Luke Peppard who were selected for the Leinster Under 18s squad for next year.
