Tough game for Kinnegad Juniors' U13s against Willow Park

A tireless effort by each Kinnegad player was the plus point of the day, though at this level, supreme discipline is required. And that was not always prevalent in either half. What was more consistent were the performances of two players in particular, goalkeeper, Conor Briscoe and right-back, Even Toner, who outshone everyone else.Yet again, David Etcheri, produced some sublime moments of skill and the display of both Graeme Daly and Shay Murphy in midfield caught the eye. Yet so too did Willow Park's impressive X1, who led 1-0 at the break and scored two late goals to advance into the quarter-finals.NDSL Under 14B LeagueBoyne Rovers 1Kinnegad Juniors AFC 2Another wonder free kick from Jamie Flood and then a cool striker's finish from Dean Baker, Kinnegad's in form goalscorers, settled this tough Under 14 tie. Both Jamie and Dean are very close to each other in goal scoring numbers this season with both of them having a hand each on the golden boot trophy, with six games to go.However, this game was no easy task, with the score at 0-0 until the last few minutes of the first half when Jamie placed the ball about twenty yards out for a free kick and proceeded to fool everyone with his trade mark top corner finish. Kinnegad had plenty of chances to be three or four up after the break but it was the reliable Dean Baker who increased the lead. A clever passing move, that started in their own half, with the very solid midfield performance of Enda Kenny laying off the ball to the industrious Ryan Caffrey, in turn moving it to Jamie Flood who played in Dean, who still had plenty to do, but slotted it calmly past the 'keeper into the net. This was no more than he deserved as Dean and that midfield trio along with the wing play of Craig Tallon and Evan Daly were magnificent. Supporting behind them was the solid central defensive pair of Brian Cole and Daniel Woods with Jordan McAteer and Nicholas Vaz as excellent full backs, along with the dominant Evan Dowling in goal. With the temperature for once in the late teens we needed the excellent substitute supportive rolls of Eimhinn O'Meara, Paul Haughton and Caolan Moore. Although Boyne got a late goal, our Under 14 team continues their impressive debut in the North Dublin League and with six games left they remain top of the league.ADSL Under 16Ballinasloe Town 1Kinnegad Juniors AFC 2(Conor Kavanagh,Gary Caffrey)FixturesSaturday, April 17ADSL Under 10 EastKinnegad Juniors v.
