Castle Barna Golf Club

Sunday, March 15 was very busy in Castle Barna with the Sunday single stableford competition and the quarter finals of the Tullamore Nissan winter league being played. The fact that the Sunday competition can be played on Saturday took a lot of pressure off the time sheet and the course was clear at 11 o clock for the winter league. There was a good turn out for Sunday competition and the fine weather had a lot to with this and it helped scores as well, the overall winner was Eamon Gorman (14) with a massive 47 points,in second place was John Kennedy cut from 14 to 13 in the annual review, showing he is ready to be cut again came in with 45 points, with a score like that it wont be long before John will be in the single figures, in third place was Stephen Lynch (16) also with 45 points, Stephen had taken a little break from playing and it did not do any harm with a score like that, well done to all.Pat Rodgers, The Complan Kids beat Donal Fox"s team three and a half to two and a half. John McCormack team were beaten by John M Lynchs aptly named team The Mafia four to two.The Bakers half dozen led by Declan Rodgers was beaten by Seamus Feerys team the Tigers three and a half to two and a half. Dan Shaughnessy and Kieran McGurran went to a play off for three holes witch took a birdie on the third by Kieran to give the Hotshots victory after finishing three to three.Next week is semi finals. Battle commences at 11.30 with The Complan Kids taking on The Tigers, then at 12.00 The Mafia take on The Hotshots. Best of luck to all and untill then Happy Golfing!!!
