Moate Golf Club Notes

Inter Club 2009: The first of the inter-club teams takes to the fairways next Saturday. Traditionally the Mixed Foursomes are first up and this year is no exception. There is a new look to the team this year and Highfield are the opponents. Moate have three matches away, so any slip up at home could prove costly.The Leinster Fourball team are also out shortly and this new competition is designed for higher handicap players. Keep an eye on the Notice Board in the Clubhouse for details of all inter-club events.CompetitionsLast weekend Brian Guinan (15) was the winner of the Club competition. His 41 Stableford points was three shots better than anyone else. Paul Fogarty, Cian Bradley and Philip Dully were the category winners, while Eamon Coughlan took the Gross Prize and Gerry Brazil the Veterans Prize. Next weekend the Ballymore, Ballymahon and Drumraney members prize is on offer. This is a popular event and hopefully the weather will allow it to be a counting competition.On Friday week (Good Friday) the first of the season"s Open Competitions takes place. This is a Ladies and Gents, Singles, Stableford Open event and the timesheet is now available - Phone 090 64 81271.Ladies ClubThe winners of the weekly competition on Wednesday 25 were: 1st - Theresa Cleary (32) 39pts and 2nd Veronica Coughlan (20) - 36 pts. The qualifying teams for the final of the Winter Spring League are - Team J (Veronica McCormack, Dolores Moodley and Lady Captain Carmel Scally) v. Team A (Pearse Corbett, Eleanor Fitzpatrick and Mary Allen). The matches are to be played on or before Saturday, April 11. Best wishes to both teams.
