Wonderful weekend for Captains' Prize
Last weekend was one of the best weekends in Collinstown Pitch & Putt. It was our annual Captains' weekend and it kicked off on Friday afternoon, July 17t at 2pm which I think was a wonderful idea as we had a great turnout all that evening. It continued all day Saturday and on Sunday when last card was 5pm. We had a magnificient turn out as in the region of 300 cards were played. The weather was kind enough to us although it was a bit windy at times. The course was in immaculate condition and fit for any Championship.  Thanks to all who helped out to get the course in such nick, to our Chairmlan Des, who is doing a great job, to our Captains Martin and Liz, Liam and of course the Groundsmen, Colm and Sean. What can I say about our two Captains this year. The prizes were fabulous and they left no stone unturned to ensure that all the members would have a great weekend. Liz, our Lady Captain, looked after us all very well with her culinary expertise. We had bowls of fruit, tins of roses and all the food we could eat.  A thousand thanks to our two Captains, they will be a very hard act to follow. Moira Nugent, Vice Chairperson deputised for our Chairman, who was unavoidably absent and as usual did a great job. Before the Presentation took place a minutes silence was observed for the Archbold family on the tragic and unexpected death of Martin..The following is a full list of the winners.Ladies: Winner: Moira Nugent; Runner-up: Ena Clinton and Last 18 Gross: Anne Kelly.Gents: Winner: Liam Hetherton; Runner-up: Liam Buckley; Best 18 Gross: Larry McGinn; 36 Nett: Paddy Gorman; Hole in Onle: Liam Hetherton; Two at 11th hole. Liam Buckley.
