New PLC Courses in Killucan: Columba College Killucan are offering new Post Leaving Certificate programmes in September. Columba College is to start three new courses in September 2009.The Courses are Business and Secretarial Studies, Nursing Studies and Horticulture Fetac Level 5. This is an opportunity for students who have just received results today to consider taking one of these courses as a stepping stone to either employment in the future or pursuing these subjects to diploma and degree level in third level colleges. Mature students are also welcome to apply and this may be an opportunity for somebody who has become unemployed or unable to find work in the current climate to upskill or retrain. The team has now achieved a semifinal spot. A great Kinnegad crowd saw them blaze away only to be caught by a spirited St Malachy's comeback. Kinnegad dug deep in the last ten minutes to run out convincing winners and a great team performance saw them through.The ladies' team had a narrow one point win over neighbours Killucan which saw them through to a county final against Garryscastle.The club also had a very successful drive-in bingo recently and they are going to hold it again on the 18th October.Congratulations to club secretary Alan Plunkett and Edel Cooney on their recent wedding, may they enjoy many happy years together.Good luck to all who are competing in the community games national finals this weekend in Athlone from Coralstown Kinnegad GAAWell doneNicole Gorry and Ciarán LeechCongratulations andwell done toCiarán Leech and Nicole Gorry whorepresented Westmeath in the National Finals of the Community Games which took place in the Athlone Institute of Technology on the 14th -16th August. The Marian movement of priests will meet this Wednesday the 19th August at 7.30 p.m. The 9 am Sunday morning Mass in Clonard will take place in Kinnegad during renovation work at Clonard. Thank you to all who have returned their completed CHY2 forms to the parish office; it is of enormous benefit to the parish building and development fund. The parish office is on the grounds of the church and is open every Thursday and Friday morning from 10:30 am until 1 pm. Baptismal and confirmation certificates and signed Mass cards are available.
