Ronan Collins presents 'Reeling in the Showband Years'

Ronan Collins presents 'Reeling in the Showband Years' in the Greville Arms Hotel on Thursday, January 14.They're saying it's the showband show to top them all and that's not surprising as "Reeling in the Showband Years" stars some of the people who were there from the beginning of this magical era.Ronan Collins needs no introduction as he is one of the all-time most popular presenters in the country. He also drummed and sang with Dickie Rock for many years. As well as hosting the show, he will be singing his tributes to Joe Dolan and Dickie Rock which wowed the audience and viewers at home when performed on a recent Late Late show.The great Paddy Cole, a founding member of The Capitol Showband, who dominated the Showband scene right through the 60s with their big brassy sound and Paddy's virtuoso Sax and Clarinet playing, will also be there on the night.Then there's the Eurovision stars Tommy and Jimmy Swarbrigg, who performed for Ireland in 1975 and again in 1977.They had over 20 hit records throughout their career, including "Looking Through The Eyes Of A Beautiful Girl", "If Ma Could See Me Now", "It's Nice To Be In Love Again" and "That's What Friends Are For", plus many more.Another Eurovision favourite, Sean Dunphy - the velvet-voiced crooner was a huge hit when he went to The Eurovision Song Contest with "If I could Choose", proves he is still performing as good as ever.Sean O'Dowd, with his band "Ding a Ling" undoubtedly the biggest drawing band in Ireland throughout the 70's, will be back with hits like "You Are No Angel".The big sound of The Conquerors Showband will also be performing on the night.
