Cyclist Sean Kelly to appear in Mullingar

A man whose aggressive riding and hard man style of racing won him legions of fans - cyclist Sean Kelly - will be appearing in the Greville Arms this Friday night, March 22.
This is a unique opportunity to meet one of Ireland’s greatest ever sportsmen and the night will consist of a slide show to recapture some of Kelly’s amazing career as well as an interview, which will be followed by Q&A session from the audience.
Kelly won nine major classics and 193 professional races in total from the start of his career in 1977 to his retirement in 1994, including Paris - Nice seven years in a row and the first UCI Road World Cup in 1989: the 1988 Tour of Spain and had multiple wins in the Girio di Lombardia Milan San Remo, Paris - Roubaix, and Liege Bastogne Liege.
He also twice won bronze medals (1982, 1989) in the World Road Race Championships and finished fifth in 1987, the year compatriot Stephen Roche won gold.
Kelly was first to be ranked number one when the FICP rankings were intrudocued in Marce 1984, a position he held for a record six years. In 1984 season, Kelly achieved 33 victories.
